Evaluation - Question 3
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
The majority of audience thought that the ancillary products fitted into the genre of pop. Although I wanted to represent Antigoni in a young and fun way, I still wanted to portray the fact that she is a strong and confident girl which I believe was conveyed though both the ancillary products. Each picture is very striking and represents the whole ‘american dream’.
After a focus group viewed a draft of the music video, the main feedback we got back was to focus more on the ‘Popcorn Boy’ but also to focus on the popcorn as visual metaphore which Serena and I achieved with our finished music video. We used many shots of the ‘Popcorn Boy’ being active and watching football and also used Antigoni throwing the popcorn at the camera and also eatring it. We also added in more transitions such as a push transition as we though these linked in well with the teen pop genre.
To gather the best possible feedback I held a small focus group with six young women and four young men. Here is a summary of the pros and cons I found.

The majority of feedback said that the ancillary producuts fitted into the genre of pop which I wanted to achieve.
There was a clear narrative
· There was a variety of shots from close ups to tracking shots.
Good use of the visual metaphore which was popcorn.
Use of transitions linked well with the teen pop genre of the music video as we see many in young pop artists music videos such as Carly Rea Jepson’s and Justin Bieber.
|
· Lip syncing was not always on time throughout the video, however this is something that Serena and I focused on and tried our very best to put it right.
Some said that they though that we should have filmed more outside but I wanted to focus on the setting of the school and how Antigoni is just like every other girl a I thought this would allow teenagers to relate to her better.

Advert sketch
Here is a sketch of what I would like my advert to look like. I want the album name to really stand out as i believe that the name of the album really promotes Antigoni's brand image as an artist. I have also included ratings on the album and also Antigoni's record label which is Big machine records. I have chosen this label as this is the label that Taylor Swift is signed to and I believe Taylor Swift and Antigoni are very similar.

Advert under construction
As you can see I experimented with a variety of different fonts until i chose the one i wanted to use. After much consideration i chose to place the title of the album in a diagonal place on top on Antigoni.
I also experimented a great amount of where to place the ratings of the album. I thought that they looked to squashed by the side of her so i placed them at the bottom for the finished advert. I also chose this picture as i though that it was the most striking picture of Antigoni as it promotes the fact that she is young, stylish and is something that girls can relate to.
I chose to place the New York skyline at the bottom of the advert as i believe this links in well with how much Antigoni adores Amaerica.

My Finished Digipack
The first thing I wanted to focus on when making my digipack was using an american theme. I believe the song represents the whole american dream of being heartbroken at such a young age. There is an ongoing theme of something that represents america such as, New york city skyline, Times Square an american flag and the hollywood sign. I wanted to represent Antigoni in a young and fun way therefore Serena and I dressed her in denim shorts, over the knee socks and converse which also helped with the american theme. I used many different fonts and i felt each slide represented a different part of Antigoni's personality.
Here is my finished digipack.

Digipack research
Digipak
Research: Form & Conventions
1)
What is a digipak and how is it similar/different to an album cover?

Usually, the portion of the
digipack that hold the CD is made of plastic like a traditional jewel case CD -
the plastic part is simply attached to the paper background.
2)
What does a digipak net look like and How many faces are usual?
A digipak usually has four faces, however they can have up to six or even eight faces.
3)
What do we usually find on the various faces of a digipak?
Front
cover: The
front cover will usually consist of an image of the artist and a specific theme
that may be tied in with their music/ music video or with the theme of their
album or single. It usually may also have a date of release if it is going to
be released online aswell as being sold in shops.
Back
cover: The back cover usually consists of also another image that may
be connected to the music/ music video or theme of their album or single. And
it will also display the list of songs or song that are on the album or single.
There is also a barcode on the back cover so that it can be sold in shops.
Inside
cover: The inside cover normally will also have an image connected
with the theme of their song or album as a whole.
CD tray: The
CD tray normally will again have an image that carries on with the theme and
images of the album or single. Sometimes this part is either the same image as
the front cover or even the CD itself.

4) Does there need to be a connection between
the faces on the digipak?
Yes there does need to be a clear
connection between the faces on the digipack in order to have a unified
image, as the audience need to feel like they can identify with the
artist.
